Determination of 13 Volatile Aromatic Compounds by SPME and GC-MS

  • A method for the determination of 13 volatile aromatic compounds in soil with an Agilent 5977A and manual SPME technique is described. A manual SPME method for the sample pretreatment is used. The matrix modifying solution is a good tool to increase the recovery of the targets.The good linearity appeared in the soil with aromatic compounds from 5.0,10,20,40 μg/kg and 50 μg/kg, the R2 are all better than 0.995. The testing results proved that this method is practical and effective for the determination of volatile organic compounds in soil in the field. The lowest detection amount of this method is 1.0 μg/kg in soil.
