Abstract:
A new method for determination of trace molybdenum in ethylene glycol by spectrophotometry was proposed. This method is based on molybdenum react sensitivey with salicyl fluorine and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, a cationic surfactant, to form the stable complexes in the strong acid solution. Its λ
max is 524 nm and its apparent ε
524 is 1.03×10
5. The feat condition was studied in detail. The recovery of molybdenum in ethylene glycol ranged from 94% to 98%.The proposed method gave a satisfactory result for the determination of molybdenum in ethylene glycol.
